SimpliVity's Hyperconverged Infrastructure To Support VMware vSphere 6
The only true hyperconverged infrastructure on the market will also bring support for next-gen Intel Haswell processer and Cisco UCS C240 M4 Rack Servers
SimpliVity, a leader in hyperconverged infrastructure for the software-defined data center, announced recently at the VMware Partner Exchange (PEX) conference in San Francisco that its hyperconverged infrastructure will support VMware vSphere 6. The company also announced coming support for the Intel Haswell processor, bringing enhanced performance to its OmniCube hyperconverged infrastructure system, and adding the SimpliVity OmniStack Integrated Solution with Cisco UCS C240 M4 Rack Server systems to its portfolio.
“There’s a lot of noise in the market today about hyperconvergence. Vendors are under pressure to say they have a hyperconverged solution because they know this is what today’s CIO wants: cloud economics with enterprise capabilities,” noted Doron Kempel, SimpliVity CEO. “But what other vendors are bringing to market are little more than rudimentary storage and servers, and other disparate products for data protection—cobbled together with no material efficiency or performance benefits. Running disparate software products on the same scarce Intel processors that also support business applications is inefficient and undermines performance. SimpliVity remains the first and only company to deliver a true hyperconverged solution by natively assimilating all IT infrastructure capabilities below the hypervisor—including native data protection, data efficiency and global unified management.”
As an established partner with VMware, SimpliVity will support VMware’s hypervisor upgrade, vSphere 6, in its hyperconverged infrastructure technology.
“We’re excited to see the great performance and scale enhancements of vSphere 6 and we’re committed to supporting vSphere for our customers as they upgrade,” added Jesse St. Laurent, vice president of product strategy for SimpliVity. “VMware customers run their business-critical applications on SimpliVity’s hyperconverged infrastructure and rely on us to simplify IT below the hypervisor, providing 3x cost savings and increased operational efficiency.”
SimpliVity will also add support for the new Intel Haswell processor by the end of the first quarter for its OmniCube hyperconverged infrastructure platform and extend its support for Cisco UCS systems. Specifically, support for the new Haswell processor will enable customers to leverage SimpliVity’s OmniStack hyperconverged infrastructure platform with Cisco UCS C240 M4 Server Rack systems: enterprise-class servers designed to deliver exceptional performance, expandability and efficiency for storage and IO-intensive infrastructure workloads.
“Adding support for the next-gen Intel processor is something our customers are really excited about,” said St. Laurent. “They get to run more VMs with more resources and better performance, in the same hyperconverged infrastructure platform, powerful enough to run their entire IT environment.”
About SimpliVity’s Hyperconverged Infrastructure
SimpliVity offers a revolutionary and disruptive innovation designed to simplify IT and provide significant cost savings and operational efficiency. SimpliVity’s technology, OmniStack, hyperconverges everything “below the hypervisor” in to an x86 atomic building block, eliminating discrete devices and the need to manage IT components independently. SimpliVity’s design approach enables ease of scale; combining multiple OmniStack-powered hyperconverged building blocks to create a large IT resource pool, which can accommodate small single sites up to large multi-site configurations. SimpliVity’s VM-centric management streamlines operations for administrators, and instances of OmniStack-powered hyperconverged infrastructure within and across data centers can be globally managed from a single interface via VMware vCenter. OmniStack’s Data Virtualization Platform achieves superior data efficiency by deduplicating, compressing and optimizing all data at inception in real time, once and forever—and without performance penalties. It also natively integrates data protection and cloud enablement to provide further operational efficiency and TCO reduction.
About SimpliVity
SimpliVity delivers the best of both worlds: cloud economics with enterprise performance, protection and functionality. The company provides software-defined infrastructure packaged on industry-standard x86 systems, providing abstraction, pooling and automation of IT resources and services. By assimilating eight to twelve core data center functions, including the hypervisor, compute, storage, network switching, backup, replication, cloud gateway, caching, WAN optimization, real-time deduplication and more, SimpliVity’s Data Virtualization Platform delivered on hyperconverged infrastructure delivers a 3x reduction in TCO. It’s also differentiated by global unified management, integrated backup and replication, and unparalleled efficiency via deduplication, compression and optimization of data before it hits disk to save IOPS and capacity on primary storage and throughout the workload’s lifecycle. Launched in 2013, SimpliVity is in use at hundreds of enterprises and service providers worldwide, including T-Systems; City of Arvada, Colorado; MLB Network; and Wausau Coated. Headquartered in Massachusetts, SimpliVity's business model is 100% indirect, and its solutions and professional services are available through its network of worldwide resellers and distributors.
