Syncplicity Launches Powerful Group Sync And Sharing Capabilities For Businesses

Seamless and Automatic Sync and Sharing Enables Business Groups to Share, Collaborate, Manage and Protect Folders and Files without Changing the Way They Work

Syncplicity, a leader in cloud based file management solutions, recently announced the beta rollout of a first-of-its-kind group sync and sharing capabilities for business users. With the launch, Syncplicity becomes the first solutions provider to enable users to work the way they are accustomed to working, syncing their everyday work folders and files – wherever they are stored –  across platforms and devices for seamless group sharing and collaboration, even while offline.

“Business users are seeking a better way to share files and collaborate with colleagues in a group environment without breaking stride when it comes to how they like to organize and access their files,” said Leonard Chung, Syncplicity Chief Product Strategist and Co-Founder. “We’ve answered the call with innovative group capabilities that maintain the business-class administrative and security features today’s organizations require, while enabling users to automatically sync and share files and folders with existing and new team members without having to drop them into special folders or check them into cumbersome content management systems. Group collaboration can now occur without hassle, marking a seismic positive change for the industry.”

Syncplicity speeds access to shared files and eliminates information silos by ensuring everyone in a group has seamless online and offline access to files in shared folders, without the burden of needing to share them with each current and new member. With the new Groups functionality, Syncplicity users and Admins can easily share folders with pre-defined groups of users rather than just individuals. Every member of the group gains immediate access to all the files in the shared folders and can work on them online or offline, and store them anywhere on their computer. As new users join the group, the shared folders are automatically synced to their computers; and, when users leave the group, they automatically lose access to those folders.

Syncplicity’s Group sharing also dramatically reduces the time and cost of supporting users and protecting company data. IT Administrators can quickly and easily add new users to groups, giving them immediate and automatic access to all shared folders, including folders on corporate file servers, on their computers and mobile devices, while avoiding end-user file server connectivity and permission issues and the complexity of supporting VPNs. Unlike consumer-oriented sync solutions, businesses data is protected because users who are removed from a group immediately lose access to shared folders and files associated with that group. Data can also be wiped and permanently deleted from the users’ synced devices, ensuring the highest level of security is maintained at all times across individuals, groups and the organization as a whole.

By enabling group-based folder sharing directly from a user’s local file system, and not changing how they organize their files, users can more easily collaborate with dynamic cross-functional teams, freed from dragging-and-dropping files into rigid organizationally-aligned file server configurations or checking files in and out of cumbersome content management systems.

Additional key features of the Syncplicity group capabilities beta include:

  • Admins can create an unlimited number of groups and easily add users
  • Users and Administrators can share folders with both individuals and groups
  • Folders can be shared with "read only” or “read-write” access to protect files from inappropriate changes; Syncplicity determines an individual user’s access rights based on permissions granted through group membership and individual shares (e.g. a user can be granted read-write access individually even if they belong to a group that just has read-only access)
  • As an added protection, Syncplicity prevents data loss by not allowing any user to permanently delete files unless they are the original owner
  • Synced group folders can be accessed online and offline— if offline, changes are synced to the group as soon as the user connects and Syncplicity automatically handles version conflicts
