TAWPI Highlights New Capture Solutions
Businesses interested in the latest document and check capture solutions had to look no further than this year’s TAWPI (The Association for Work Process Improvement) Annual Forum and Expo. The event (which was held August 12-15 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston) is largely education focused, consisting of several learning sessions and seminars held over a four-day period. These sessions cover topics on everything from payment automation, remote deposit, document imaging, and forms processing and also include case histories of companies that have implemented successful technology solutions in these areas.
The expo hall also always displays the latest in forms processing, remittance processing, mail processing, data capture, and document and check imaging technologies. This year, exhibiting vendors placed a lot of emphasis on document and check capture. For instance, several vendors, including Orbograph and Kodak, highlighted their remote deposit solutions at the show (i.e. Orbograph’s Key-Pay Convene solution and Kodak’s i6000 check scanners and t6000 client and server transaction software). Perhaps the prevalence of these solutions at the show had something to do with recent remote deposit adoption projections released by Celent, a financial industry analyst firm. According to the firm, the number of businesses adopting remote deposit is expected to grow from 200,000 to 1.2 million over the next five years.
High-speed document and capture vendors including Imaging Business Machines, LLC (IBML), BancTec, Kodak, and OPEX, also had new solutions and enhancements to exhibit at TAWPI. For example, Kodak unveiled a new capture solution, the KODAK s1740, at the show. The s1740 integrates a high-speed document scanner, operating software, and inline document separation capability in one system. You can read more about the solution in the news section of Integrated Solutions online ECM Tech Center. IBML also announced an embedded software enhancement, called Dynamic TIFF, to its ImageTrac scanning platform at the show. Dynamic TIFF is an image enhancement tool that clarifies and sharpens captured images for more accurate OCR (optical character recognition) and ICR (intelligent character recognition) read rates. Overall, the show displayed a myriad of solutions in a segment of the ECM (enterprise content management) market that is booming right now. Businesses interested in enhancing their work processes by implementing document imaging, data capture, and forms and remittance processing technologies would be wise to attend the TAWPI event next year.
