The 3 Most Important Things For Retail IT VARs To Do This Year

As EMV is shaping software solutions in the retail and restaurant world, big corporations are getting into the payments space. They have realized, without the POS (point of sale) software, acquiring new merchants is a big challenge. Dealers had a very difficult time last year when the market changed and traditional POS vendors were not achieving revenue expectations.  Consumers are confused with all the offerings from big corporations (Groupon-Bread Crumb, Sysco-Leapset, First Data-Clover). Even though these solutions claim they do the job, most of these solutions are not designed for specific industries and eventually become cumbersome for the business owner.

Here are three things you should focus on to meet the demands of this changing environment:

  1. Find A Cloud Solution

My recommendation for any reseller is to find a cloud-based solution that they are comfortable with and understand all of its capabilities — but don’t try to sell it to every merchant. Determining the customer’s needs, requirements, and future expectations is the key in creating happy customers. Even though these solutions are low cost and easy to setup, some establishments won’t use cloud-based applications because of infrastructure and security issues. It is vital that you have a complete understanding of the customer’s growth expectations and feature requirements in anticipation for their volume and transaction increase — which a Wi-Fi cloud network will not be able to handle.
