The Threat From Within

Security vendors and VARs often talk about unintentional security breaches by employees. Those staff members who simply don't think about the risk involved with attaching a confidential document to an email or opening the business network up to a threat with the simple click of a mouse on a website link.
But how about this:  Microsoft is warning that some of that unintentional breach action may turn into intentional action. An article on BBC.com highlights statistics about this new security threat -- disgruntled workers or furloughed employees with a grudge. The article discusses the fact that with so many businesses cutting back staff, the problem is only going to grow. It certainly raises the point that security VARs may soon have a new value proposition -- protecting business networks from their own staff.
