The Top 5 Access Control Trends VARs Need To Watch In 2016

While the access control market typically moves at a near glacial pace, the security industry is still seeing advancing technology and a move into increased integration, increased lockdown capabilities, and mobile applications.

In addition to incorporating these trends over the coming years, manufacturers must go beyond providing tailored training solutions, integrator and partner support, and an out-of-the-box product for end users, and look for ways to add value to the partnerships created through access control technology. Today’s end users need more than just a product — they need continued support and a true partner to address the needs that the organization faces on a day-to-day basis.

Here are some of the trends we will continue to see in the access control market as we welcome 2016:

  • Increasing Lockdown Capabilities. With the recent coverage of threats to K-12 and higher education facilities, we are faced with continued discussions on how to make our schools safer. These entities will continue the focus toward hardening perimeters and increasing lockdown capabilities in the event of a significant threat to safety. Schools today are reprioritizing and expediting the roll out of classroom security measures that provide lockdown capabilities.
