By Jumbi Edulbehram, Regional President, Americas, Oncam

As video surveillance becomes increasingly evolved, end user organizations are leveraging technology to address issues in numerous vertical markets where security is essential to success. The security industry is seeing trends in the increased used of omnidirectional cameras, video analytics, video resolution, and cloud-based surveillance, making the future of video surveillance virtually endless in possibilities.

In 2016, the industry can look forward to a number of new and continuing trends:

As the technology on these types of camera improves, so to does the price tag, and more and more of these 360-degree cameras are becoming more affordable for consumers. With higher resolutions and more efficient dewarping/stitching technologies, omnidirectional cameras may soon replace PTZ cameras in a number of vertical markets, including transportation, retail, education, banking and finance, maritime, leisure and gaming, and much, much more.
