TSC Auto ID Presents New Alpha-4L

TSC Auto ID recently launched the brand-new mobile label printer Alpha-4L It combines an at-tractive design with its easy handling and the best performance at a rea-sonable price. With the new Alpha-4L TSC underlines its high demands to continuously enhance the efficiency, reliability and quality of its innovative and cost-efficient barcode printing solutions. The Taiwanese company, one of the fastest-growing providers in the global auto-identification and data col-lection industry, used its engineering and manufacturing expertise to de-sign the industry´s best reliable and rugged portable label printer - and now set a new standard in this market.

Thanks to its high capacity 5800 mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery the printer features a long-lasting performance that will continue to operate long after other printers have failed. The weight of this user-friendly printer, battery included, is only 1100 g, so it can easily be worn on a belt for extended periods. It's a perfect fit for the modern working envi-ronment.

The Alpha-4L is designed to resist dust and water and with its rubber over-mold construction prepared to withstand 5 ft. drop and endure 6.5 ft. drop with its optional IP54-rated environmental case without interrupting the printing function.

The 32-bit RISC CPU high-speed processor allows printing speeds of up to 102 mm/s (4“) at a resolution of 203 dpi. 16 MB FLASH memory and 32 MB SDRAM and additionally, a microSD card reader for Flash memory expansion up to 4 GB, provide sufficient memory even for the most demanding printing requirements.

In the housing with the dimensions 160 mm (W) x 191,6 mm (H) x 79 mm (D), large media rolls for labels with an outer diameter of 67,3 mm (2.65”) can be installed. The maximum print width is 104 mm (4.09”), the maximum label length 2.286 mm (90”).

For easy integration into network and a smooth data exchange the print-er comes standard with USB 2.0 and Bluetooth. As user option it can be equipped with a serial interface RS-232 and as factory option with 802.11 b/g/n Wireless to connect to a mobile computer or even a smart phone.

Thanks to TSC´ new Software Development Kit (SDK) and an Android-App as well as some other interesting features of the powerful firmware the Alpha-4L is ideal to control and operate directly through smart phones or tablets. Additionally it is ready for TSPL-EZ (compatible with EPL, ZPL, ZPL II) or CPCL environments, TSC DROID APP & SDK, WinCE Quick-link tool & SDK or IOS SDK.

An adjustable Black-mark reflective sensor, a transmissive gap sensor, a peel and a head-open sensor guarantee that objects can be labeled correctly and precisely, even with ambitious print jobs.

Without any problems the portable Alpha-4L can easily process diverse media types such as die cut, black mark, receipt, fan-fold, linerless or continous. The new thermal direct printer produces clear, accurate labels with a width from 2.0 up to 4.4”, the thickness is 0,055 up to 0,165 mm. All common types of 1D barcodes such as EAN-13, CodaBar and Code39 and 2D codes as DataMatrix, PDF-417 or QR Code can be printed on the labels. 8 alpha-numeric bitmap fonts and Monotype Imag-ing true type font engine with one CG Triumvirate Bold Condensed scalable font are embedded automatically.

Windows labeling software CD disk, Quick Start Guide, belt clip, Li-ion battery and power adapter are supplied with Alpha-4L as an accessory. For mobile controlling or operating via smart phone, SDK for IOS (iPhone & iPad), Android 2.2 or higher and WinCE/WM 6.0/6.1pro can be downloaded from TSC´ website.

The factory options include 2” LC display or a linerless kit, the user op-tions a RS-232 or USB 2.0 cable, a shoulder strap, a vehicle power adapter or a charging station with 1 or 4 cells.
