Industry Perspective: Virtualization Can Improve Your Server Sales

Given its role in creating components for servers, you might expect Intel to have a negative opinion on virtualization — a solution that consolidates servers to more efficiently utilize the central processing units (CPUs) in that hardware, often drastically reducing the number of servers in any given IT environment. But instead, the vendor has been working intensely to raise awareness of virtualization with its system builder partners and OEMs. "For us, as we look at server virtualization, we are focused on training and education," explains Todd Garrigues, North American channel manager for Intel. "We are trying to help our server builders get comfortable in the virtual market, and help move that community toward faster adoption."
