Managed services providers (MSPs) have a handful of tools in their arsenal. Two of the most important are the PSA (professional services automation) and RMM (remote monitoring and management) platform. Used to even a small extent, these tools can bring automation and new levels of efficiency into your business. Used to their fullest, and the sky is the limit.

In fact, in a state-of-the-industry survey we conducted last year, those who fully use a PSA tool outperform their counterparts by a factor of four. Some of this performance is from the PSA tool, but there’s also the fact that to implement these tools correctly, you really need to have your internal operations running smoothly. Break-fix VARs who have history running fast and loose can initially struggle with the amount of organization needed to switch to managed services and its related tools. Of course, the switch isn’t impossible and any struggle is well worth it in the end.
