Why Still Do That By Hand? 3 SMB Processes To Automate

By Brian Sutter, Director of Marketing, Wasp Barcode Technologies

As a business grows, you should leave Excel spreadsheets and pen and paper tracking behind. Continuing to use an outdated, manual process to manage a growing business will cost more money in the long run than investing in an automated process. Here are three processes your SMB customers will find benefits in automating:

Process #1: Fixed Asset Tracking

Tracking a company’s fixed assets on a piece of paper or within an Excel spreadsheet will cause a significant loss of time and money. An automated asset tracking system provides clear financial benefits by decreasing administrative and replacement costs. As your customers look for the best asset tracking system to meet their business needs, help them find  a product that provides users with the ability to track an asset’s entire life cycle — from purchase to final disposition.

Of particular concern are assets purchased with funds granted by an outside source — whether local, state, or federal government. For example, small, nonprofit organizations engage in basic grant tracking and may submit about 100 proposals a year, with one-third of them being funded. It’s often the grant writer’s responsibility to track assets purchased with those funds.  Businesses that implement a more efficient and cost effective tracking system eliminate the negative effects of asset record omissions and errors.
