Last night, I had my first, real-life experience with EMV. If this is representative of what the U.S. transition to EMV will be like, it’s going to be a long, unpleasant process.

4 Keys To Great ISV Partnerships
As technology begins to connect the world in ways previously unimaginable, ISV partnerships become increasingly important. Providing solutions across a broader spectrum is tantamount for survival. And yet, so many businesses excitedly enter into partnerships that never amount to anything more than what is affectionately known as a “Barney” relationship. Remember that big old purple dinosaur who gleefully (some might say annoyingly, depending on how many times your kids or grandkids watched the show with you) sang, “I love you, you love me, we’re a happy family”?
Are Payment Technologies Driving POS Decisions?
The Internet and mobile devices have helped break down barriers to purchasing goods and services, making it easier than ever before for consumers to find what they are looking for, at the price they want to pay. As buying has become easier, though, consumers have become more complex.
Why Should You Sell Solutions “Born In The Cloud”?
The “cloud” is where everyone wants to be; yet few know how to get there successfully. Why does the cloud remain somewhat elusive to the channel and VARs, and how can we remove the barriers to entry for all? Let’s first look at the “why” part of this question. Why should you sell cloud-based solutions at all?

Secure Mobile Payments With EMV, P2PE, and Tokenization
Developers, ISVs and VARs face significant challenges in payment security. EMV, P2PE, and tokenization are generally accepted as the best, most effective combination of security methods.
Preparing Your Business To Accept Mobile Payments
Many factors contribute to a shift in the payments landscape that is moving all parties involved — including consumers and merchants — towards mobile payments. For starters, the global adoption of smartphones and other mobile devices, and their seemingly endless variety of apps, continues at a record pace. Consumers have become accustomed to relying on these devices to manage practically all aspects of their lives, including banking, budgeting and shopping.
ABOUT POINT OF SALE (POS) AND PAYMENT PROCESSING
Point of sale (POS) is the place where retail transactions are completed; where payment is exchanged for goods or services. POS is used in many retail industries and many require unique customizations to the hardware and software in order to accommodate their transactions. POS features include scanners, manual and electronic cash drawers, scales, EFTPOS terminals, handheld scanners, touch screens, and many other options. Modern POS systems often act as more than just a system to process transactions by providing inventory management, warehousing, CRM, financials, and more.
In addition to standard on-premise POS systems, modern POS software can be delivered from the cloud in the software as a service (SaaS) model. Cloud-based POS systems can be compatible with traditional POS hardware in addition to mobile devices such as iPads, iPhones, Android devices, and more. Cloud-based POS offers the ability to access data from anywhere there is an internet connection and normally offers faster setup due to it being run remotely.
Payment processing is done by payment processors which are often third party companies hired by a merchant to handle credit card transactions. Payment processors are broken down into two types: front-end and back-end. The front-end processors perform card associations, authorizations, and settlement services while back-end processors accept settlements from front-end processes and move money from issuing banks to merchant banks.
Modern payment processing is usually provided in the software as a service (SaaS) model, giving merchants a single simple electronic portal that allows them to process payments in various forms including recurring payments, web payments, checks, and more all in the same place.
