Scan-Optics Ranks In Connecticut's 25 Best Performing Public Companies

Scan-Optics, Inc. (OTC BB: SOCR), a leader in information capture and customer service solutions for government, insurance, order fulfillment, proxy, health claims, test scoring and other paper-intensive businesses, today announced that the Company has been named to the "25 Best Performing Public Companies" list published by the Hartford Courant. Scan-Optics was ranked 14 out of an original group of 129 public companies based in Connecticut. The ranking is based on a composite score that accounts for profits, growth and shareholder return.

"We did not just post the top stock market performers," said Dan Haar of the Hartford Courant. "Our purpose was broader, to assemble a set of measures that, when taken together, highlight the companies that are the best managed." In addition to the "25 Best Performing Public Companies" list, Scan-Optics was also ranked in the Courant's annual "Courant 100", which is a list of the top 100 public companies in Connecticut based on revenue.

"We're honored to again be recognized by the Courant as one of the top public companies in Connecticut," said James C. Mavel, President & CEO of Scan-Optics. "This award is made even more important because it recognizes that the outstanding efforts of our management and employees and the dedication of our customers has resulted in a stronger company, overall. We can all be very proud of this recognition."

Scan-Optics also received an award recently for its new scanner platform - the SO Series. Announced at the AIIM show in April, the SO Series not only offers the fastest throughput speeds of any scanner in its class - up to 240 ppm - it is available at very low introductory price for end-users.

The editors of AIIM's E-Doc publication awarded the SO Series its coveted "Best of Show" Award for "providing a single platform that accommodates both image-only and OCR scanning needs with the same machine, at a low price."
