Angela Brown, CEO and President of Moneris Solutions Corporation (“Moneris”), one of North America’s largest payment processors, has been honored with the 2015 Distinguished Payments Professional award from the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA). Provided by the international trade association for organizations offering payment technology products and services, the award recognizes industry leaders that contribute to positive change and best practices in the payments industry.

Brown is a payments industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience, including merchant acquiring, consumer and commercial payment products and payment processing. She is being recognized for her diligent efforts in responding to industry and merchant needs, and positioning Moneris to deliver secure and mobile solutions for a rapidly changing payment ecosystem.

“Angela has a keen sense of the technology and security that companies require right now for their point of sale, while keeping sight of the needs of tomorrow’s consumer,” said Jason Oxman, ETA CEO. “I’m thrilled that Angela Brown is this year’s ETA Distinguished Payments Professional in honor of how she is contributing to the rapidly changing payments industry.”

The Distinguished Payments Professional award recognizes industry leaders that contribute to positive change and best practices in the payments industry. The ETA Awards and Recognition Committee, a panel of industry executives, narrowed down dozens of nominations to a group of finalists for eight awards across multiple categories. Award winners in all other categories aside from the Distinguished Payment Professional award will be announced live on Tuesday, March 31 at Transact 15, where Brown will receive the Distinguished Payments Professional award during ETA’s President Dinner gala.

“It is such an incredible honor to receive this year’s Distinguished Payments Professional award during one of the most dynamic and evolving times in our industry,” said Brown. “It’s a true testament to Moneris and we are thrilled to be on the frontlines as the U.S. transitions to EMV, helping consumers, banks and merchants with our class-leading payment processing and security solutions.”

In an effort to further share her expertise with payments professionals and merchants, Brown will also deliver a speech, “Tales from the Transition: A Painless Switch to EMV,” at Transact on Tuesday, March 31 at 10:15 a.m. PST.
