In the Jan 2013 issue of Business Solutions magazine, we reviewed seven RMM platforms. In the time since, a lot has changed. To keep you up-to-date, we’ve reached out to each vendor to obtain updates on their products. Remote Technology Management (RTM), an MSP based in the Boston area and headed up by CEO Eric Brown, performed the original testing over a four-week period. Brown, along with his team of technology consultants, tested seven RMM tools and shared feedback on the highlights and lowlights of each one. Since Jan 2013, what are the most significant changes to your RMM platform?
Since January 2013, N-able announced the general availability of N-central 9.1, 9.2 and 9.3 to provide significant new business and technical capabilities to its managed service provider partners (MSPs). The award-winning N-central managed IT services platform easily scales and now supports hybrid IT environments and mobile devices (Apple and Android), as well as Windows 8 & 8.1 and Windows Server 2012. We also invested in deeper integration with Autotask and ConnectWise professional services automation (PSA) software, delivered new MSP automation objects, policies and game-changing enhancements to our Automation Manager module for N-central. N-able’s Patch Manager module, with the ability to patch various third-party applications (such as Java or Adobe Flash), and Security Manager / AV Defender module (now powered by BitDefender), were also big feature enhancements added in 2013.
Also in October, we announced our StorageCraft alliance for backup up and recovery to empower MSPs with robust new capabilities to protect customer data. Here is some additional detail about each launch in 2013:
• Integrated Security Manager AV Defender powered by Bitdefender®
• Integrated Backup Manager powered by StorageCraft®
• Maintenance Windows
• Integrated RSS Feed
• Integrated MSP Runbook®
In 2013, we also announced new additions to Report Manager, which is an optional module for our N-central RMM platform. This reporting module is best in class and delivers industry-leading business reporting to N-able MSP partners worldwide. The new features include a powerful new executive summary report designed to transform and simplify the way MSPs quantify, communicate and visually demonstrate the business and technical value of their services to customers, prospects and other influencers such as line of business owners and board of directors. N-able’s Report Manager also ships with more than 50 ready-to-use strategic and executive-level reports that offer high-value insight into key performance indicators (KPIs), IT infrastructure and devices under management. The new software also showcases the success of specific IT initiatives, investments and priorities such as cost savings, new infrastructure and overall enhancements to business availability. It is the only reporting solution that is fully integrated with a leading RMM and MSP service automation platform at both the data and user interface level. These reports can also be customized and fully branded as the MSP’s with no ties to N-able. Another differentiating factor is Report Manager's highly intuitive design and an executive summary report that captures key metrics and summarizes them in a "glance-and-know" scorecard-style format. The result is that MSPs can more easily articulate and visually show high-value information such as network availability or year-to-date savings comparisons in seconds, without the need for executive-level customers to get bogged down in details.
Last, but not least, we announced our MSP Playbook in 2013. Although this exclusive tell-all e-book is not tied into the RMM platform itself, it is hands-down an extremely value business enablement resource that our partners have found to be incredibly valuable in accelerating their services practices. The e-book dives deep into the best practices, growth strategies and proven tactics of today’s most successful MSPs, providing a roadmap for delivering high performance, proactive managed services. A preview of N-able’s MSP Playbook can be found at https://secure.n-able.com/playbookpreview/. Here is the press release: http://www.n-able.com/company/newsroom/press_releases/2013-10-07.aspx
Which mobile platforms do you support for monitoring? Apple and Android
Any changes to your pricing structure since Jan 2013? N-able did make a few changes to its pricing last year, but we only offer the pricing to N-able partners and prospects directly to protect their service margins with the customer.
