RSPA: Evidence Of Industry Engagement, Relevance

I just had a call with Kristen Oleson from the RSPA in advance of their upcoming event and, wow, am I blown away at what this organization — YOUR industry organization — is doing. A few stats:
- RSPA membership continues to grow – As of the beginning of 2013, membership has grown more than 15% over 2012. Currently, retail IT resellers make up more than 70% of the organization’s member base.
- Since transitioning RSPA to an industry association (including both dealers and vendors) in late 2006, membership has tripled to more than 1,200 member companies and thousands of individuals.
- At RetailNOW 2013, the RSPA is attempting to capture the latest industry issues with its education programs. Additionally, the expo floor reflects the latest trends with the addition of a section that highlights the latest in mobile retail technology.
- RSPA expects RetailNOW 2013 to be its biggest show yet, with a sold out exhibit hall and an expected attendance of about 2,100. That’s crazy impressive, as last year there were about 1,800 attendees if I remember right. What an increase.
You don't have that kind of success and growth if you're not doing something right. The RSPA has been providing top-notch relevant education to its members for years and recently things have hit a new high. If you aren't participating or taking advantage of what this organization can offer, you're quickly falling into the minority.
This is a year of opportunity, not lagging behind your competition! The accelerated rate of change with mobile products, tablet-based systems, the “as a Service” business model, and the intersection of POS and payment processing are all creating business opportunities for retail resellers. For those of you able to identify, adapt and execute, the business opportunities are tremendous.
