Exclusive BSM Interview: New ScanSource POS/Barcoding President Paul Constantine

Paul Constantine, who was named president of ScanSource POS/Barcoding North America in January, talks with Jameson Publishing and Business Solutions magazine President Jim Roddy in this exclusive Executive-To-Executive interview. In this interview, Constantine shares his thoughts on the changes at ScanSource and offers insight into the point of sale, bar code, physical security, and networking channels.

Prior to being named POS/Barcoding president, Constantine served as vice president for ScanSource Physical Security (2008-2012) and VP of the ScanSource POS/Bar Coding division (1999-2006), giving him a unique perspective on those markets.

"The ability in (the physical security) market right now to sell and install networks and network-based solutions is at a premium," Constantine says. "If you have networking skills in a different market, the security market is ripe for you.

"And then on the flip side of the coin, if you're a physical security integrator, what I would probably advise having seen both sides, is to take advantage of our community of retail and data collection partners because they can be a terrific source of opportunity through partnerships. All end users are interested at some point in buying physical security solutions … but not every (VAR) wants to make the investment required to sell and support new technologies."
