Socket Mobile Adds Android Support To Cordless Ring Scanner

Growing Market for Rugged Tablets Fuels Demand for Android Support

Newark, CA (Marketwire) -  Socket Mobile, Inc. (OTCQX: SCKT), an innovative provider of mobile productivity solutions, has released Android support for its SocketBluetooth® Cordless Ring Scanner (CRS) 9P hands-free barcode scanner for warehousing and logistics. The update makes it possible for manufacturers, logistics providers, and package carriers to track assets and inventory in real time using the latest Android smartphones and tablets.

The CRS 9P is a wearable barcode scanner that enables comfortable, hands-free data collection in high-velocity supply chain applications. Socket Mobile has updated both the SocketScan™ 10 keyboard wedge software and SocketScan 10 Software Development Kit(SDK) to include Android support for the CRS 9P.

"With manufacturers like Casio, Fujitsu and Panasonic offering rugged Android tablets, Socket Mobile has received numerous customer requests for Android support for our Cordless Ring Scanner," said Tim Miller, Chief Operating Officer of Socket Mobile. "Socket Mobile is committed to meeting customer needs in the constantly changing mobile device landscape. Besides adding Android compatibility, we are also evaluating market demand for support for the Apple iPad and other iOS devices."

In addition to Android, the CRS 9P is compatible with BlackBerry, Windows Embedded Handheld (Windows Mobile) and Windows for desktop, notebook and tablet PCs.

The CRS 9P is available from Socket Mobile's online store and will be available from distribution partners in November. Customers can download SocketScan 10 software from Google Play or Amazon. Developers with a subscription to the Socket Mobile Developer Program can get the SDK from the Socket Mobile Developer Portal.
