Tech Trends: Take Advantage Of Converging Voice, Data

The channel's need to be better prepared for convergence of voice and data in the network has become more and more evident. For example, CompTIA just unveiled new certification that focuses on VoIP VARs gaining expertise in a wide range of technologies, such as data, telephony, and convergence networking; planning those networks; wireless networking; voice and telephony services; voice troubleshooting; and identifying requirements for transporting text, voice, video, modem and fax through a converged solution. I asked two vendors — and CompTIA — to share their thoughts on what a VoIP VAR must be able to deliver to compete in today's world of unified communications (UC) and converged networks.
