Top Apps For Your Physician IT Clients

Healthcare Global has released a list of apps for physicians, and some align well with the solutions you provide. Here is a list of the six apps that pair well with the products and services you offer healthcare providers.

Epocrates

Epocrates is an app that allows physicians to pull drug information, locate other providers for consults/referrals, and perform quick calculations of patient metrics. It will be especially useful as connected and interoperable healthcare spreads outside the realm of government requirements. Epocrates is available for both iOS and Android, with most of its content being free, and paid content (alternative medications, lab guides, disease information) being available via in-app purchase at $159.99 annually.

Doximity

Doximity tackles security and communication with its iOS- and Android-based app.

Based on the largest network of medical professionals in the U.S. (it boasts 40 percent of physicians as members), it allows doctors to use its free tools for electronic faxing, HIPAA-secure communication, curated news, and career management. The app is available via both mobile and web and is free to download with membership signup (also free.)

Virtual Practice

This app focuses on doctor patient communication, and is available via web, iOS, and Android. Virtual Practice gives doctors the ability to communicate with and engage patients via their smartphones or other mobile devices. Beyond that, it allows physicians to access patient health data, as well as provides convenience and ensures better healthcare outcomes.

MyChart

On the patient-facing side, MyChart opens a direct line of communication between patients and providers. It allows patients to check test results, pay bills, manage appointments, pull family health information, track medical treatments and immunizations, and more. MyChart is available on iOS and Android.

iPharmacy

On the pharmaceutical side, iPharmacy helps both patients and doctors identify pills and find low-priced prescriptions. Beyond price comparison, it also features medication tracking, specialized versions for big names like CVS and Walgreens, and an electronic discount card that works at over 60,000 participating pharmacies. The iOS and Android-based app also allows patients to use their phones to place refill orders.
