Characteristics Of A Successful Employee
By Adam Simpson, CEO and co-founder, Easy Office Phone
In addition to being a fairly unique company, Easy Office Phone, a provider of cloud-based business phone services for Canada and the United States founded in 2005, also has a terrific corporate culture, good camaraderie, and a general sense of fun — but we’re not for everyone, and working here calls for some specific traits.
Focus / Un-focus
The ideal employee really needs this strange balance of multi-tasking ability and deep concentration. Some days, it’ll be next to impossible to sit down and work on just one task, and those are the times that they’ll need strong top-level organizational skills. It becomes a matter of catching all the balls in the air, then setting them aside for later scrutiny.
When the information storm subsides, they then need to sit down and concentrate deeply on each task presented to them — not everyone can do this. Some people, such as those in sales departments, excel in juggling multiple projects at a superficial level, but won’t be able to sit still long enough to delve more deeply into each item. Others have tunnel vision — they’re exceptionally good at maintaining laser-focus, but get overwhelmed when more than one job at a time requires attention.
The ideal employee for Easy Office Phone can strike a reasonable balance and end up somewhere in the middle of that spectrum.
