Data Collection And Mobility News From November 2014

Each month, Business Solutions reports news on business in the channel. This month in data collection and mobility news, Motorola Solutions introduces a new Android mobile computer, Datalogic expands its presentation scanner portfolio with an omnidirectional laser scanner, and Datamax-O’Neil offers a year-end trade in program on four of its printer models.

Motorola Solutions Presents New Android OS Mobile Computer

Motorola Solutions’ new enterprise-class Symbol TC70 touch computer is the first to run the Android KitKat OS. It features a 4.7-inch, high-resolution display and support for all standard Wi-Fi security protocols. The computers are equipped with Extensions (Mx) by Motorola Solutions — providing security, manageability, data capture, and wireless software features — and Mx Data Capture, enabling developers to integrate bar code scanning, signature capture, image capture, and payment processing. With Workforce Connect Push-To-Talk (PTT) Express, the devices serve as a two-way radio via Wi-Fi. It can also be used with Motorola’s new ShareCradle, a multi-slot charging system.

Datalogic Expands Its Presentation Scanner Portfolio

Datalogic added the Cobalto CO5300 omnidirectional, high-performance laser scanner to its presentation scanner line. It features an omnidirectional reading pattern of 20 lines and 1,500 scans per second and a depth of field from close contact to 10.8 inches. Good reads are indicated visually by the blue light around the reading window turning green. Additionally, audio confirmation can be configured for a good read. The adjustable scan head allows it to be used as a handheld reader for scanning larger or bulky items.

Select Printers Eligible For Datamax-O’Neil Year-End Trade-In Program

Datamax-O’Neil is offering its Year-End 2014 Trade-In Program for four of its printer models. Any customers in the United States or Canada that replace an existing E-Class, M-Class, I-Class, or H-Class printer, or competitive equivalent, with a new model by Dec. 31, 2014 will be eligible to receive a discount by completing the trade-in form available at the company’s website, which must be submitted to the reseller at the time of purchase.
