Educate Yourself To Capitalize On The IP Video Security Market

There has been a recent surge in the development and use of IP video systems for security, which is providing some unique opportunities and challenges for integrators.
As an article in Business Solutions Magazine points out, the transition from legacy analog systems to network-based IP video management systems (VMSs) has produced tremendous market growth over the past few years. Randy Montelius, VP of engineering at Communications Engineering Company (CEC) and a systems and technology integrator, tells BSM, “As a culture we’ve made a 180-degree change in our attitude toward having cameras around us in the workplace and in public — our YouTube and reality TV generation readily accepts it,” he says.
So how do integrators capitalize on this recent expansion in the market?
Vince Ricco, business development manager of the Technology Partner Program at Axis Communications, advises, “If an integrator wants to jump right into the camera business, I would advise starting out small, and it’s important to get educated.”
