An insufficient disaster recovery plan is much like a lack of blood flow to the brain. If a disaster strikes, the damage to your organization can be difficult, if not impossible to overcome. Consider the cost you might incur if lightning struck and took down your primary business server. Would your patients’ medical records and other healthcare-related data be recoverable? How long would it take for your organization to be back up and running?
I’m fortunate to work with hundreds of MSP’s through our HTG Peer Groups each quarter, both here in North America as well as Europe and Australia/New Zealand. Not only do we facilitate two-day interactions with these great leaders, but we benchmark their financials and have them follow a rigorous framework of planning, goal setting and accountability.
Over the span of just a few years, flash storage has become increasingly useful and, as a result, increasingly popular among businesses. This is in part driven by the influx of Big Data into organizations as companies try their best to analyze it and discover valuable insights. It’s gotten to the point where the traditional hard disk drives in use for decades are quickly being replaced in many instances with the much faster solid-state drives.
As a full service manages service provider (MSP), one of our goals is to turn our clients’ networks into the black boxes they expect them to be. But with that comes the responsibility of assuring them all the bases are covered, especially when it relates to backup. With that in mind, there are three reasons you should offer every client a comprehensive data backup and BDR solution...
Here is a scenario that I experience all the time in my sales efforts and I want to see how many of you have the same experience. I call a prospect and one of three things happen.

Backup & disaster recovery (BDR) includes cloud backup, hybrid storage, recovery software, local storage, managed services, and more.
A backup is a copy or archive of computer data that can be used to restore the original data if lost. Backups are also used to restore data from an earlier time. They are a simple form of disaster recovery and should be a part of a disaster recovery plan however; a disaster recovery plan should never be just backups alone. Backups can often require significant amounts of data storage space and can be complicated to maintain and organize. Many different methods have been developed to optimize backup procedures, including ways to deal with open files, live data, encryption, compression, and de-duplication. Backup solutions should also include dry runs in order to verify the reliability of the data in the backup.
Disaster recovery is a set of rules, policies, processes, and procedures that organizations set up and follow in order to maintain a running technical infrastructure in the event of a natural or man-made disaster. A subset of business continuity, disaster recovery deals specifically with the IT or technological systems of a business.
Many companies choose managed backup & disaster recovery services, where a vendor provides automatic backups or backup services via on-premise hardware and/or cloud storage along with the necessary software and support.
Common strategies for data protection include backups made to tape and sent off-site, backups made to disk on-site and copied or made directly to disks off-site, data replication to off-site locations, hybrid cloud solutions that replicate data to on-site appliances and off-site data centers, and high availability systems which replicate data and systems off-site and enable continuous access even after a disaster.
MAX Backup™ - fast, reliable, automatic, offsite, secure backup and disaster recovery to make your life easier! No more worrying about on-premised backup failure, or someone missing a crucial tape backup. The days of lost customer data are gone!
