Jameson Publishing and Business Solutions magazine President Jim Roddy talks to Tim Wojs, senior research associate at Robert W. Baird & Co., in this Executive-To-Executive interview conducted at the Money2020 conference, held Oct. 6-10, 2013 at the Aria in Las Vegas.

Wojs sees parts of the value chain converging — payment processing companies starting to offer point of sale (POS) systems, hardware providers now expanding to software — and that the energy behind these changes has been the shift to mobile payments. As for changes on Main Street, the complexity at the point of sale will increase.

“The merchant is going to want to take whatever tender the consumer wants to pay with,” Wojs says. “The challenge is going to be integrating multiple types of payments beyond what we take today.”
